Michael Earle (June 9, 1952 - November 19, 2018) was a Canadian artist who received his Masters in Fine Art from Slade School of Art, University College, London, UK. Originally a multi-media artist experimenting in sculpture and large scale works in acrylics, Michael trained in printmaking under Richard Sewell at Open Studio in Toronto and gained recognition in printmaking by winning the Nick Novak scholarship. Michael continued his focus on printmaking experimentation by blending acrylics, oils and a variety of printing methods using japanese paper, silk and canvas and producing small editions as well as monoprints and paintings. For many years Michael was an Instructor at a number of art schools including Toronto School of Art, McMaster University and recently at Haliburton School of Arts. In recent years Michael has expanded his range of experiments to include large format works that combine a variety of printmaking methods with collage, fabric dyes and hand-made papers.
